I found PDX Woodworks, searching for someone in Portland to make a custom thirty-space knifeblock I designed, and three butcher block cutting boards for our kitchen. We have many specialty knives and I finally decided to organize them safely and comfortably in one knife block.
Michael made me comfortable from the start. I showed him my drawing and design requirements for the knife block and the cutting boards. He helped me choose Oregon black walnut as the wood species, and then took a few days to work with my drawing and develop a price.
