I first attended the Salvation Army of Camas/Washougal in 2017. After moving back to town. And having my Sister and Aunt beg me for about a year to come visit their church.
I finally decided to check it out. Feeling defeated in life and struggling with great depression. Due to permanent neuropathic pain down my whole right leg into foot that I live with every day from a previous back injury. The first year I always sat in the very back row. So I could get in and out as quickly as possible. But I kept coming back every week. The way Pastor Samantha taught the Bible was just what I needed to hear. With Love and compassion.
After the pandemic occurred in late 2019. This church never stopped masks and all. When they were forced to shut their doors. They moved online with their weekly worship and sermons. As well as Wed on Zoom. Where I eventually felt comfortable enough to talk a little about myself and share my testimony with a screen full of people I had grown very fond of.
This church has only a handful of "employees". Which include Paster Samantha Wheeler and her family. They never quit serving and loving others during covid. In fact when they were forced to shut their doors. They made sure to personally visit the doorsteps of every church member leaving boxes of foods and goods. They put warming heaters outside their doors and still never turned anyone down that showed up with a need. It's been amazing to watch this church grow and be a part of it. Seeing the amount of volunteers we have weekly makes my heart rejoice. The love and support this church brings to our community is absolutely bountiful. The way they gladly work with other churches in our area is pretty awesome as well. Because in fact it does take an ARMY an Army of the most high GOD to serve and LOVE one another. Today I sit in the front row and have even joined the worship team singing. "Which I only used to do in the shower".😆 I've also joined their Ukulele group that is yes open to anyone interested. I encourage anyone reading this review who may feel lost, broken, hurt, struggling with addiction. To come, come as you are! And to know that you were created perfectly in the image of the most high GOD. With the seed of Love planted in your heart. Hope to see you Sunday. 🙏✌️❤️😊
