I hired Nathan a couple of times for appraisals. At the end of 2021, I contacted 4-5 appraisal companies, and he is the ONLY one who got back to me. I thought his appraisal was fair and timely.

Fast forward to December 2022, I needed an updated appraisal for a divorce settlement and a quick turn-around. There was a dispute about the value of the home. I again turned to Nathan, who understood the tight deadline, and he delivered an updated appraisal. I would definitely do business with Nathan again. He's fair and professional.

I hired Nathan Bernhardt for a divorce appraisal. He came to my house and seemed thorough in walking through as well as listening to our history with the property. He graciously promised the appraisal for the following Friday. When we failed to hear from him I waited until the middle of the following week to contact him. He stated "the timeline was too short", and offered to cancel the work. I replied that I wanted to proceed, but would just like an estimate of when the work would be completed. No reply. We waited another week, and my wife called requesting the same. No reply. It has now been nearly a month, and no appraisal or response from Nathan. I find him both unprofessional and irresponsible. I cannot recommend using his services.
Addendum: I must add that Nathan came through with a thorough and fair appraisal about a month after we met. Other than the lack of communication above, I have nothing against him or his business. I just think he is somewhat overwhelmed with the quantity of business he is dealing with at this time in our history, and maybe needs to promise timelines for results more conservatively.

Nathan was always very pleasant to deal with. I hired him in August 2020 when his family was going through a difficult time, so it is understandable to have some delays and hiccups. However, he missed a couple appraisals for my family that I had to remind him about. We also had a vacant lot that we believe was priced too high. He agreed to take another look at it, but that was months ago. After reminding him about 5 times, I have given up. We had to hire another appraiser to finish the work, which we are not pleased about.

Unfortunately, I am afraid this is a scam company. I met with Nathan, he walked through my house and took some photos and walked around the outside taking photos. I made the mistake of paying him prior to receiving my appraisal as he seemed legit as did his website. However, I never received my appraisal, I have not received any response to my emails, text or phone calls. He has disappeared with my money and provided nothing.

Nathan is by far the most reliable, knowledgeable, and timeline sensitive appraiser I have ever worked with. I have lost count of the amount of times I needed an extremely quick turnaround and Nathan has delivered every time. He is the go-to appraiser in the Portland area for a friendly, fast, and great priced appraisal!
